Dragons impress at Region 6AAAA Championships

The Region 6AAAA Traditional Wrestling Championships were today at PHS. We had 7 wrestlers qualify for sectionals and 2 alternates! CJ Murphy – 1st in 126 lbs Dalton Brunner – 2nd in 195 lbs Zak Price – 3rd in 160 lbs Nate Davis – 4th in 145 lbs Andrew Burrell – 4th in 152 lbs

January Diamond P Award: Brandon Tippens

Our January Diamond P Award goes to Brandon Tippens.  Coach Tippens serves as our Head Wrestling Coach and has done a great job this year! He is always willing to help and work with others and pushes our wrestling program to be the best it can be.  He also serves as the Special Education Department

Fans of the Month: Friedman family

Our January Fan of the Month award goes to the Friedman family!  They have donated computers, jerseys, and other things to our Esports program and have been at every match!  Thank you to the Friedmans and the Fastest Dog for being our Fans of the Month!

Male Student-Athlete of January: Mason Watkins

Congratulations to Mason Watkins for being named our Male Student-Athlete of the month for January! Esports advances to state championship!!

Our E-Sports Rocket League team defeated Lambert this afternoon to advance to the State Championship! They will play Forsyth Central High at 4:30 on Wednesday at Mt Vernon High School for the state championship. Congratulations to Mason Watkins, Carter Logan, and Tristan Warren and Coach Wil Nix on this great achievement.  Looking forward to cheering

January Male Multi-Sport Athlete of Month: Chase Nelson

Congratulations to Chase Nelson for being selected our Male Multi-Sport athlete of the month! Chase was a big part of our football team and is helping our wrestling program now!  We are proud of his hard work with balancing school and multiple sports!  Congrats Chase!!

January Positive Athlete of the Month: Isabella Howell

Congratulations to Isabella Howell from our PJHS Girls Basketball team for winning the January Positive Athlete of the Month!  She was nominated by Coach Steinhauer for her positive attitude and contributions to the team!  Thank you Isabella for all your hard work!

January Team of the Month: PJHS 8th Grade Boys Basketball

Our January Team of the Month is the Pickens Jr. High 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team.  These young men finished 14-0 on the season and won the Mountain League Championship.  As 7th graders they did the same thing.  28-0 in two years!
