On March 7-9, seven Pickens High School Students competed in the 4-H District Project Achievement competition at Rock Eagle 4-H Center! For this competition, students chose a project of their interest, learned about their topics, created a portfolio (resume-like document displaying their efforts), wrote a 10-minute speech, created a presentation, and presented it in front of judges and peers.
These are the PHS students who participated:
Reese Davis, 1st Place | International Project
Sarahi Flores, 1st Place | Food Safety and Preservation Project
Sheila Flores, 1st Place | Workforce Preparation and Career Development Project
Micah Newton, 1st Place | Housing Project (also winning the Water Wise Scholarship for his water-conservation efforts and was elected, by his 4-H peers, President of the Northeast District 4-H Senior Board of Directors)
Sky Paredes, 1st Place | Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors Project
Tyler Weatherbee, 3rd Place | Performing Arts- Other Instrumental Project
Christian Wright, 3rd Place | Performing Arts- Vocal Project
Students who placed first at this competition (district level), will advance to the state competition (Georgia 4-H State Congress) this July! These five students (picture attached) will compete for Master 4-H Status in their project area. Master 4-H Status is the highest honor/recognition in 4-H!

The FORCE students continue to make steady progress in their life skills, employment skills, and on the job training with Mr. Jamie. As part of their training, they are preparing sandwiches for our sports teams, providing athletes with the nutrition they need to refuel after their intense workouts. Through this experience, students are developing valuable, transferable skills that will support their future success in the workforce.
